We need to Value Creative Intelligence
But first, we need to teach is that everyone has...
Value
This isn't historically how we teach due to colonialism, rasism, capitalism - all of the isms.
Intelligence comes in many forms
Beginning in 1969, Finland's school system was reformed to become one of the best in the world. They did this by valuing every child and believing in their abilities. They stay up-to-date on current research and are willing to share and discuss it.
"Finland's education system aims to provide equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their background or abilities. Reforms in the 1970s and 1980s eliminated the practice of separating students into different tracks based on test scores. The system prioritizes learning over testing, and instead of standardized exams, teachers assess students based on curriculum objectives. This approach allows students to chart their learning path, foster creativity, and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills."

Cognitive Psychology: Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences

How can we teach others to value creative intelligence?
ACTION: One way is to cooperate and collaborate with other disciplines on interdisciplinary units of work
Why?
Because if created thoughtfully, others understand the value of creative intelligence.
The Arts ~ connect us
to humanity
Participanting in the arts activates us, it makes us present.
Creativity is vital
"It's the way we heal each other. In singing our song, in telling our story, in inviting you to say "Hey, listen to me, and I'll listen to you," we're starting a dialogue. And when you do that, this healing happens, and we come out of our corners, and we start to witness each other's common humanity"
Actor Ethan Hawke 2020
everything beautiful that people love is created by an artist. Artists are essential
The goal is to simplify things so that we are...
FREE to FEEL
I think it's universal that we all want to evolve creatively
There is science on how good the Arts are for our brain & Body
Being creative can feel risky, it's hard, there's vulnerability. You have to use your intuition, you have to play.

We are hardwired to dislike uncertainty, but how we learn to flex that muscle, to lean into change, is through play.
